About BigDataResumes.com

Why this site exists

Most job search advice online is generic — written for “all industries” by people who’ve never opened a posting that mentions Airflow, dbt, or a lakehouse migration.

BigDataResumes.com exists to fix that gap. Every guide here is specific to data roles: what actually gets a resume past an applicant tracking system, where real openings in data engineering, data science, and machine learning actually get posted, and what a technical interview loop in this field actually looks like.

No pitch. No paid service. Just the playbook.

Who this is for

This site is built for people actively job hunting in big data roles — whether you’re early in your career, switching in from software engineering or analytics, or a senior engineer whose last job search was five years ago and the rules have changed since.

Every guide is written to be used immediately: concrete checklists, real examples, and specific tactics rather than vague encouragement.

What you’ll find here

  • Resume & ATS — what recruiters actually scan for, and how applicant tracking systems parse (and mis-parse) resumes
  • Finding the Right Roles — how to spot fake postings, where real data jobs get posted first, and how to approach the search strategically
  • Interview Prep — what to expect in technical and system design interviews, and how to talk through your own projects effectively
  • Cover Letters & Outreach — when a cover letter actually matters, and how to reach out to recruiters or hiring managers directly

How we approach this

The data hiring market moves fast — what worked two years ago (like standard ETL pipeline experience being enough to land an entry-level data engineering role) has already shifted. We try to ground every guide in the current state of the market rather than recycled, outdated advice, and update guides when something meaningfully changes.
